LOCAL AGENT AUDIO / MCP SETUPBack to studio

LOCAL MCP / ORIGINAL SYNTH DSP / NO CLOUD REQUIRED

LET YOUR
AGENT MAKE
NOISE.

Connect a trusted local agent to the NOISE ALTER sound engine. Ask for a bell, a phonk sketch, a MIDI arrangement, or a glitch treatment; get audio files back in your workspace.

01 / CONNECT

ONE LOCAL RENDERER BUILD
01

Build the audio engine.

From the trusted REE repository root, run this once. It builds the standalone renderer from the same C++ DSP core used by the native instruments and effects.

python3 experiments/afterform-audio/native/bootstrap.py --renderer-only
02

Load the local MCP.

The repository-scoped .codex/config.toml declares noise_altar_audio. Trust the REE checkout and reload its MCP configuration so Codex discovers the tools. The server communicates over local stdio and binds no network port.

If you use another MCP host, point its stdio server at experiments/afterform-audio/mcp/server.mjs with working directory set to the REE repository root.

02 / MAKE SOMETHING

FOUR AGENT TOOLS
noise_altar_list_products

Explore the instruments.

Inspect the seven product definitions, factory presets, and exact macro controls available from the DSP engine.

noise_altar_create_sound

Make a sound.

Render an original instrument phrase with FRACTURE, HOLLOW, UNDERTOW, LATTICE, or MURMUR, then shape it with up to two effects.

noise_altar_compose_song

Sketch a song.

Create a seeded phonk, montagem, hardtekk, or glitchcore arrangement. The output includes a stereo WAV, multi-track Standard MIDI, and project recipe.

noise_altar_apply_effect

Transform a render.

Process an audio artifact made by this MCP server through FRAMECUT or RUPTURE, with a retained recipe for the effect settings.

03 / KNOW THE BOUNDS

LOCAL / PROCEDURAL / YOURS

What it does today.

Audio is rendered on this computer by NOISE ALTER's original C++ synth and effect DSP. Song sketches use deterministic note-generation rules and procedural drums. The tools provide real WAV and MIDI artifacts; they do not call a hosted text-to-music service.

Where files go.

Audio, MIDI, and recipe files are written into the ignored project cache at experiments/afterform-audio/.cache/agent-audio/. The MCP accepts artifact IDs for processing, not arbitrary file paths. The local storefront serves generated links while its preview server is running. No voice generation is included.

04 / HOW IT COULD PAY

PRODUCT FIRST / CHAT NATIVE
THE ENTRY

Free preview. Paid instrument.

Keep browser listening and short sound studies open so people can hear the character. Do not offer native plug-in binaries for free. Sell the instruments and authored preset collections as durable products; a purchased instrument should work in the DAW offline under its license.

THE AGENT PLAN

Charge for hosted work.

Sell the local MCP as part of a paid instrument or collection license; its renders use the buyer’s machine. If hosted rendering is built later, show the price before each job, require explicit approval, and offer capped credit packs with receipts.

THE KEEP

Sell a project, not a file.

The valuable handoff is WAV, stems, MIDI, patch, effect chain, key, tempo, and variation seed—saved together so the producer can keep editing in a DAW. That creates a reason to own the plug-ins and return to new sound drops.

THE DIFFERENCE

Keep local creation open.

The current local MCP runs on the producer’s machine, so it has no honest server cost to meter. Reserve credits for future hosted generations or paid libraries, not trivial local DSP. Live account billing and public MCP access are not implemented.

Prelaunch prices are staged in Stripe: $19.99 per instrument and $9.99 per effect. Checkout and commercial licenses are not available yet.

05 / GIVE EVERY MACHINE ITS OWN LOGIC

CHARACTER IN THE INTERACTION

Strike, resonate, submerge.

FRACTURE makes the note attack feel like hitting metal; velocity sets the strike and its shard field connects Metal to Fold. HOLLOW turns note sustain into a resonant room, with Material and Decay changing the note’s after-image. UNDERTOW anchors a centered sub while its upper voice bends and glides like a current.

Cut time. Bend material.

FRAMECUT turns its host-synced buffer into a playable timeline: choose a division, retrigger or reverse, then introduce scatter. RUPTURE shows three frequency bands as material under heat: drive the mids and fold the high end while the low end stays anchored. Each visual should show real parameter and audio data, not a pretend spectrogram.

THE MACHINE IS YOURS TO PLAY.
